Naypyidaw is the new administrative capital of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Centrally located between 391 km from Yangon and 302 km from Mandalay. The city start build from 2002 and finished in 2007, all of the government office moved to Naypyidaw from Yangon in 2005.
Getting to Naypyidaw
- Naypyidaw International airport is about 30 minutes from the city and All domestic carriers operate a daily flight from Naypyidaw to the commercial city, Yangon and Mandalay.
- Now Bangkok Airways is operating direct flights to Naypyidaw from Monday to Friday.
- Myanmar National Airline MNA and Air KBZ domestic airlines fly to Naypyidaw Intenational airport.
- Many Modern highway buses operate daily from several cities to and from Naypyidaw not only by air but also directly by coach and train from many other parts of the country.
Uppatasanti Pagoda (Highly Recommended for Night Visit)
Of all the sights in Naypyidaw, the golden Uppatasanti Pagoda is the most spectacular. The pagoda is a replica of Shwedagon Pagoda and it sits on a hill looking down on the city with a large monastery complex.
The shimmering golden pagoda, 99 meters (325 feet) tall, it visible from all major roads leading into the capital.
Water Fountain Garden
The Garden is a 26.3 hectare (65 acres) large. It is near the Naypyidaw City Hall, the garden opened in January 2008 features one main pond with three fountains, 11 small ponds with fountains and three walkways under the fountain displays. The garden is open daily from 08:00 am to 08:00 pm.
Parliament House
Parliament House (Pyi-Thu-Hlut-Taw), the building is situated in Naypyidaw, the buildings are composed of 31 buildings which are located on 800 acres of land. These buildings were constructed with the art of blending modern and ancient Myanmar architectural style. Their buildings are a very magnificent and historic landmark of Myanmar.

Gem Museum
Naypyidaw Gem Museum is one of the prides of the nation and situated in the center of the city. The museum building itself is an architectural beauty that lay on the five hectares landscaped plot. All kinds of mineral gems extractable in the country are on display.
You can found Rubies, Jades, Pearl, Sapphires, Diamonds, Aquamarine, Gold, Quartz, Emeralds and many more. Open from 09:30 am to 04:00 pm except for Monday and Government holidays.
Markets
Myo Ma Market is currently the commercial center of the city and the High way bus station is located in the market. Anyone can hire a motor bike taxi or taxi to the city from Myo Ma High way bus station.
Famous Shopping centers are Capital Hyper Market, Junction Center, and Ocean Supermarket.
