Kyaing Tong (Keng Tung)
Kyaing Tong is the capital city of the Golden Triangle Region. The town is surrounded by beautiful forests and mountains and offers travellers a chance to visit the remote villages of this peaceful trading town.
The surrounding area is perfect for trekking, leading to villages of 13 nationalities including Ahku, Ahka, Palaung, Eng or Lahu races. They retain their traditional costumes and ways of life. Keng Tung lies in the valley between the high misty mountains of the Shan Plateau and the Mekong and the Than Lwin rivers.
How to get there
Kyaing Tong is about 456km from Taunggyi, the capital city of Shan State. It is only 170km away from Tachileik and it takes 3 hours by 4WD or Vans. It is also accessible by daily flight from Yangon.

What to See, Attractions in Kyaing Tong, Keng Tung
The Maha Myat Muni Pagoda of Kyaing Tong (Wat Pra Sao Loang)
The pagoda is just around the corner of Amazing Kyaing Tong Resort. The walls and ceiling of the hall are resplendent with Shwezawa (gold lacquer) decorations yet it was not so lavish as to offend the eye. The face of the image from the chin to the topmost part of the holy head was cast from a mixture of pure gold, silver and some copper.
Naung Tong Lake
The lake lies in the centre of the city and is known that it covered the whole city once.
Yat Taw Mu Buddha Image
It is a standing Buddha Image situated on Somsak or Jomsak hill. It was built in 1992. The image is 67 feet height from head to toe. The Buddha image is in the pointing position which means lord Buddha made a prophecy.
Kyaing Tong Central Market
It is located in the downtown area of Kyaing Tong. It brings down many ethnic villagers from the surrounding mountains every morning, each in their traditional costumes too.
One Tree Hill
This is Kanyin Phyu tree (Dipterocarpus Alatus ) growing on top of the Soam Mom Hill on the outskirt of the city. It stands alone on the hill so that how the name was given. It is nearby downtown area of Kyaing Tong and 218 feet height.
Mya Shwe Yi Hot Spring
The Hot Spring is nearby Kyaing Tong-Taungyi road and 8km from the city. Hot Spring and Bath at a separate room with bathtub.
Pin Tauk Waterfall
Pin Tauk Waterfall is 22 km away from the North-West of Keng Tung. We can see the beautiful scenery of waterfall study the living styles of Akha and Eng tribes.
